Cinco de Junio

Gosh, it's nice to be around my family for long enough to actually take some pictures of them--they've been unjustly underrepresented in my entries.

Dad with my neice, Carli Jean. She nailed the Rachmaninoff. That's right.

Drew and baby Nate--my cousin Liz's two kids. Brian and I spent the day with them today at their farm south of KC. We learned how to sell grain, the difference between a silo and a grain elevator, and how to blow up a grain elevator. I would be so much cooler if I'd grown up on a farm--I'd know how to do a lot more things. I always think about how I should go with Dad to the farm and learn how to operate some heavy machinery, or more likely how to fix some heavy machinery. Or learn how our food gets from the field to the grocery store shelves. Unfortunately, our schedules just don't seem to jive lately.

Brian and Colton, my cousin Janet's son. I think they're making the marinade for that amazing chicken we had at the lake a couple of days later. Poor Colton didn't even get to parttake in the eating of it. Yogurt in a marinade does amazing things for chicken!
