Powell/Bollinger: A Photo Essay

The ladies formerly of 1412 Anthony Street, Columbia, MO (Anne Powell, Amanda Van Buren, and myself) returned last weekend to the Mineral Area of Missouri for Anne and Jim's wedding and related festivities. It was wonderful to have so many from my early college days all in the same room at the wedding--my former roommates, Julie and Nathan Jacobs, Anne and Amanda's parents and their family friends. To top it all off, Mom and Dad even drove in for the event!

Got my first pedicure at the bachelorette/spa day on Thursday. (It tickled so badly I kicked the pedicurist--at least I didn't break her nose as happened when my sister squeezed my ribs a few years back. Sorry, Laura!) The party continued with swings and mojitos at Boogaloo in Maplewood (hip St. Louis-area strip), rehearsal dinner at a lovely winery in Ste. Genevieve, pre-wedding hike around Elephant Rocks, a rip-roaring dance extravaganza at Alexander's in Farmington, and lunch on Sunday in Ste. Genevieve with Mom and Dad.

Megan, Lindsey, Ann, and Julie at the bachelorette dinner.

Ann and Anne at the bar at Boogaloo. Unfortunately, the swings (i.e. barstools) were tethered to the floor.

It is a stellar day when one learns that her favorite dessert in ALL the WORLD (bread pudding from Cyrano's in Webster Groves) is coincidentally served at AP's bachelorette destination as well. It's even cheaper at Boogaloo. Though the Cuban coffee I ordered cost six bucks. Insert expletive here. Who would have thought? You can see the measley little cup below my hand. Six. Dollars. No alcohol. I'm a damn fool.

Me, Ann, and Megan at Elephant Rocks. We decided to become three with nature in the hours before the wedding on Saturday. Amanda used to drive me around this area relatively often when we visited her nearby family during college. I miss those days when I could actually devote an entire weekend to visiting someone else's family. And then go see my own parents the next weekend.

It was an athletic feat to set the camera timer and make it on top of this rock in time to get the picture. Didn't happen on the first try...

Anne's mom Bendi helping her into her glass slippers. You should zoom in on the shoes--they're fabulous. It would be much easier to borrow them if AP didn't live in Seattle.

I love this bridesmaid's dress...

AP and BT--maybe they took this picture while spinning on a tire swing?

Amanda (AVB) and me. Look at how blonde our hair is! AVB's mom once told us that a trip to the Mineral Area would de-dinge our dirty blonde hair after too many years of washing it in Columbia water. I think we just buy lighter shades of Clairol now.

Haven't touched bases in a while... looks like you guys have been so busy with all the traveling and weddings and stuff. It's amazing that, through that, you're settled in. I hope work hasn't been too hard to adjust. Hey, if your cute little garden isn't yet eaten all to stubs, you could try ringing each plant with human hair to keep away the rabbits. Really, it works. They hate the scent. Next posted picture of Brian ought to be buzzed.
