A Rocking Friday Night with the Turpins

Fast asleep at 9:04 on a Friday night. And he still won't get a full eight hours' rest before his 32-36 hour shift starting tomorrow morning. Fun weekend ahead for us both!





Haven't updated in over two months. Wow. Been entertaining and being entertained. Darron, Stacy, and Mary and Ben and their kids joined us in Cincy earlier this month for the Tall Stacks festival, where we saw Rhett Miller of the Old 97s, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Wilco all in one evening for $25. But perhaps even better than the show was the feeling of normalcy. Having such good friends joining us in our living room far far away, laughing so hard your abs hurt for a couple of days... Makes this place feel so nice.


Headed to KC last weekend for my cousin's wedding and some good times with family and friends. I haven't seen my 14-month-old niece Carli since June, but when she saw me in the doorway she gave me the biggest smile you've ever seen and walked over with her arms stretched out for me to hold her. I guess Laura and Mom and Dad have done a good job showing her pictures of me, and it was about time I came by to pay her some attention. Just look at her ... How could I resist?

A big thanks to Jocelyn and Jake and James and Tara and Liz and Audrey for spending time with me and sparing me the traveling about town. And to Mom and Dad for hosting so splendidly. It was wonderful to see you all!
